and an alarm system installed around my heart?
Just a thought... 'Cos, I guard my apartment (actually, a team of 24-hour armed guards keep watch over my entire complex), I guard my car (tinted windows and a gear lock thingee) and I even guard my health (gym + green tea + salad winning over ice cream most of the time). What spurred on this thought process you may ask? A recently honed awareness and applicable-ness (is that even a word?) of this scripture:
Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
(Proverbs 4:23)
You see, my very wise beyond her years little sister often reminds me to guard my heart and it's a lot easier said than done. Especially when you are trained to forgive and forget, and to be the 'bigger' person. Also, it's not something I'm used to doing because I have been blessed enough not to have to guard my heart... my family, my husband and most of my friends are very trustworthy owners of portions of real estate in my cardiac muscle. In short, they'd never cut it up, stick it in a blender and push the power 'on' button.
However, occasionally something comes out of left field that requires stepping up security and it's a hard pill to swallow but a necessary one. I came across this blog post and was really encouraged by the author's open, honest interpretation.
